Physiotherapy
… for when you feel broken
PHYSIOTHERAPY
involves the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions and injuries, using exercise, manual therapy, modalities, and education.
OUR GOAL
is to provide exceptional care with an aim to resolve pain, enhance physical function, and improve quality of life for our patients.
Here are some methods we might use to get you moving again:
Manual Therapy
Joint Mobilizations and Manipulations
Exercise Therapy
Acupuncture
Taping and Bracing
Modalities
Manual Therapy
MANUAL THERAPY:
Manual therapy consists of various techniques performed by our skilled therapists directly to your muscles, joints, and soft tissue, to promote healing, restore normal function, and reduce pain.
Joint Mobilizations and Manipulations
JOINT MOBILIZATIONS & MANIPULATIONS
Joint mobilizations and manipulations are performed by our skilled therapists to reduce stiffness and pain within joints. We apply varied grades of pressure to achieve specific goals individualized to the patient.
Exercise Therapy
EXERCISE THERAPY:
We carefully assess our patients and prescribe specific movement exercises aimed to restore limitations known to be related to their presenting injury. The stretches, strengthening, and stabilization exercises are often the core component of the rehabilitation program and are important for preventing injury recurrence.
Acupuncture
ACUPUNCTURE:
Our physiotherapists insert acupuncture needles to stimulate areas activating a healing response within injured tissues. The type of acupuncture used in physiotherapy is called anatomical acupuncture. It is derived from chinese medicine, and involves targeting points along meridian pathways while also stimulating the muscle, joint, and nerve structures known to be related to the injury being treated.
Taping and Bracing
TAPING AND BRACING:
Taping and bracing are used to provide support to body parts in need. We use taping to protect a joint after an injury to promote healing and reduce risk of re-injury. We also use tape to provide support and proprioception for postural conditions to activate certain muscles and allow other tight muscles to relax.
Modalities
THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES:
Therapeutic modalities are used as a component of the treatment program to improve circulation, promote healing, reduce pain, mobilize, and stimulate tissues. Some of our available modalities include ultrasound, transcutaneous electrical stimulation (TENS), electric muscle stimulation (EMS), interferential current (IFC), paraffin wax, as well as moist heat and ice.
